What This Is

The WKRD Member Radio Network lets members create their own live radio station or music channel. WKRD does not create the broadcast from this page. The member creates the broadcast with a free streaming service and a free broadcaster program, then WKRD adds their approved station card to the listening page.

The simple idea:
Caster.fm gives you the online radio stream. BUTT sends your microphone, mixer, or computer audio to that stream. WKRD adds your working stream to the Member Radio Network page so people can listen.

Beginner Setup Steps

Follow these in order. You do not need to be a radio engineer. Get the stream working first, then send WKRD your station information.

Create your free Caster.fm account Go to Caster.fm, create an account, and create your radio station. This gives you the station/server side. Keep the Caster.fm control panel open.

Find your broadcast settings in Caster.fm Look for the details needed by broadcasting software. You may see items like server address, port, password, stream ID, mount point, or source password. These are the settings BUTT needs.

Download and install BUTT Install BUTT on your computer. Open it, go to settings, and add a new server.

Put the Caster.fm settings into BUTT In BUTT, choose Icecast or Shoutcast depending on what Caster.fm tells you. Enter the server, port, password, and mount point exactly as shown in your Caster.fm account.

Choose your audio source In BUTT, select your microphone, mixer, or computer audio input. If you are playing music from a program, make sure your computer is sending that audio into BUTT.

Click Connect in BUTT If it connects, Caster.fm should show your station as online. Talk into your mic or play music and watch the audio level meter.

Test your public stream link Copy your public stream link from Caster.fm and paste it into the test player below. If it plays, you are ready to submit it to WKRD.
Simple rule: make it work on your computer first. Then WKRD can add it to the listening page.

The WKRD Member Radio Network is a free community-style service for music creators to have fun, share shows, promote their work, and build radio experience. Every member station must be moral, ethical, lawful, and respectful.

  • Members must follow all applicable FCC laws, broadcast rules, and legal requirements.
  • Members must only play or air music, talk, audio, promos, and other material they have the legal right to use.
  • WKRD does not take responsibility for member programming, music licensing, royalties, legal claims, or content decisions.
  • WKRD may ask for proof of royalty payment, licensing, permission, ownership, or other music-rights documentation.
  • WKRD retains the right to reject, suspend, remove, or delete any channel at any time for legal, ethical, moral, rights-related, or community-safety reasons.
  • This is a free service meant for fun, creativity, and community building. It does not guarantee promotion, income, airplay, licensing, or permanent placement.

Test Your Stream Link

Paste your public Caster.fm stream link here. Press Load Stream, then press play. If it plays here, WKRD should be able to place it on the listening page.

Stream Test Player
If a .pls playlist link does not play directly in the browser audio player, use the direct MP3 stream URL from the radio host control panel instead. The best link is usually the one that plays directly in a browser audio player without downloading a file.

Submit Your Station Info To WKRD

Fill this out after your stream is working. Then create the submission text and download the PDF. Send the PDF to the WKRD site admin so your station card can be added.
